Simulations of the mid-Holocene and Last Glacial Maximum are included as part of the suite of simulations being run within the framework of the fifth Assessment Report (AR5) currently being compiled by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). This session provides an opportunity to present preliminary results from these simulations, including comparisons of the regional response of different models to the imposed climate forcing. The session will also include presentation of proposed benchmark palaeodata sets, and preliminary results of data-model comparisons. The session will provide an opportunity to evaluate novel approaches to model evaluation, including the use of new data types, offline models, and non-standard statistical approaches.
